Outreach

Our goals as a FIRST robotics team are to spread STEM awareness to students, have fund-raising events that benefit our community, as well as partner with various companies. Throughout the years, we've taken initiative in many events to connect with others.

Scrimmages

2023-2025

Throughout the years, we've participated in multiple friendly scrimmages with local FTC teams. These scrimmages stimulated match scenarios, helping us understand how to better function with other robots on the field. These meaningful practices also allowed us to get different perspectives on our robot and advance from other teams and mentors. We've built great connections with other teams through scrimmages and hope to uphold these relationships in the future.

2025

Coding Lab

Partnering for a second time with EmpowerTech, we hosted a programming lab for middle schoolers. We introduced them to FIRST and gave them an overview of how code is used in robotics. We then did a Scratch activity with them, teaching them how to utilize different commands and functions to create a program. This event introduced programming to kids in a fun, interactive environment that created a positive experience with coding, making them more likely to pursue STEM in the future.

FLL Judging

Our team attended an EmpowerTech event,
a non-profit student-led organization that
spreads STEM awareness. At this event, our
team saw an FLL Innovation presentation
and provided feedback. We also connected
with the team, answered questions they
had about FTC, and provided contact
information for future collaborations.

Engineering Process Workshop

2024

At the Frisco Public Library, our team hosted an interactive workshop for elementary and middle school kids. At this workshop, we introduced participants to FIRST and our robot. Then, the kids engaged in multiple engineering activities such as building paper airplanes and creating weight-holding structures that taught them crucial engineering design process and collaboration skills. Our team's event also sparked interest in kids and parents for the FIRST Lego organization.

SciTech Discovery Center

2024

At multiple events at the SciTech Discovery Museum, a museum that focuses on hands-on activities and awareness regarding STEM, we created interest for many kids in the field of robotics as they were able to observe and drive our robot. We also taught children how our robot worked and how to operate different components of it. This was a great opportunity to educate guests on the basics of building and coding a robot and we were able to spread FIRST values and goals. We are super proud of how we were able to bring together interested parties in engaging in FIRST events.

We were invited by the Syntech and Sankara Eye Foundation, organizations we had reached out to, to take part in this event hosted by them. Here, we were able to foster connections and partnerships with organizations and businesses. We showcased our robot to attendees and other teams. With the aid of a trifold we created to aid in teaching about our design process, we exchanged knowledge with other teams and practiced communication and presentation skills.

Frisco Chamber of Commerce Speech

2022

Last year, we were given the opportunity to meet with the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. Here, we presented our business proposal to 100 companies in hopes of gaining partnerships. This was a great chance for our team to gain exposure with business presentations and communicating with companies.

We secured a $500 sponsorship through this speech in addition to the partnerships shown to the right!

We advertised SendCutSend on our social media in exchange for a discount on metal cutting services.

Code Ninjas Presentation

2022

In the picture on the left, Abhiram is showing the students at Code Ninjas the robot from two years ago's competition. Code Ninjas is a center that teaches young kids the basics of coding through a game-based curriculum. The purpose of this presentation was to showcase the robot and promote involvement in robotics and stem-related clubs at a young age. The students were even allowed to drive the robot to see how it moves and works firsthand. They thoroughly enjoyed this presentation and we hope to host more showcases for our local community of young tech enthusiasts.

FTC Christmas Showdown Scrimmage

2022

In the Christmas Showdown Scrimmage, we partnered with GoBilda, a major parts provider for FTC.

We hosted a virtual scrimmage for all Texas teams to participate where they can win prizes, such as gift vouchers and other GoBilda parts, based on their performance. This was a great opportunity for teams to gather data for scouting, prepare their autonomous and tele-op in a semi-professional setting, and most of all, have fun!

Here is a poster we designed and posted in the North Texas google group and discord.
